Atletico Madrid is negotiating the transfer of Se Yunju, the player has a high probability of joining Atletico Madrid as a free agent
According to Italian transfer expert Romano, Leicester City’s Turkish central defender Soyunju is negotiating a transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Soyunju joined Leicester City in the summer of 2018. When Leicester City’s main defender Maguire moved to Manchester United, Soyunju quickly replaced Maguire, but the 26-year-old Turkish international has recently been in the United States. Leicester City fell out of favor and made just one Premier League appearance in 2022/23. A lack of game time has the player looking to leave Leicester.
Se Yunju performed well in the 2019/20 season, won the Turkish Footballer of the Year, was selected into the PFA Team of the Year, and established himself as the best young defender in Europe. Since then, his level of performance has dropped significantly and he is now in the final six months of his contract with Leicester, allowing him to enter into contract negotiations with clubs outside of England.
Romano reported that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have basically reached an agreement on the transfer of Se Yunju, and the club is currently negotiating with the player’s agent on the contract. They could also push for a deal with Leicester this month if talks go well.
In addition to signing Se Yunju, Atletico Madrid may also let some defenders leave in January this year. Wolves, the relegation Premier League team, are very interested in central defender Felipe and may sign players in January. The team desperately needs a defensive leader, and Hermoso may also leave the team. The player has only played four La Liga games so far this season.
Atletico are currently fourth in La Liga but are 11 points behind league leaders Real Madrid and Barcelona after 15 games.
