January 20th, as Depay left the team to join Atletico Madrid, the Netherlands in the Barcelona team
The only player left is Frankie de Jong, and now they have lost their Dutch genes.
“World Sports” believes that Depay’s transfer to Atletico Madrid has ended the era of Barcelona’s many Dutch players. Last season, the Dutch player became the second most nationality player in the Barcelona team. Now there is only one player left: Frankie-
De Jong.
Four years ago, Frenkie de Jong moved from Ajax. Ajax’s outstanding performance in the league, especially in the Champions League, coupled with a very similar style of play to Barcelona, enabling Barcelona to compete against Ajax.
Many players in the X team became interested. Players such as De Jong, De Lait and Van der Beek were all in Barcelona’s attention during that transfer window, but in the end only De Jong joined the team.
Barcelona had three Dutch players in the team last season, and the most Dutch players in Barcelona’s history was in 2003, when Rijkaard coached Barcelona with eight Dutch players.
As Koeman took up the Barcelona coach in August 2020, he still continued his habit of preferring to use Dutch players. His first signing was Durst. Although the player had already represented the US team, he was born in the Netherlands
of Almere.
The next signings were Depay, who arrived on a free from Lyon, and Luc de Jong, who arrived on loan from Sevilla.
Since then, Dutch has become the third most spoken language in the Barcelona team, after Spanish and Catalan.
Now, Durst, Luc De Jong, and Depay have all left Barcelona one after another. Only De Jong is left in the team. The Dutch gene of Barcelona will also disappear.
