The British “Sun” reported that Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea is willing to reduce the current 375,000
£ weekly salary in exchange for a long-term contract.
De Gea’s current contract with Manchester United expires in June this year, with a one-year option to renew.
“The Sun” stated that De Gea is willing to stay at Manchester United, and he hopes to renew his contract for at least three years.
Sources claim that De Gea has told the club owners that he wants to ensure his place at the club is secure and that he is willing to accept a pay cut as a result.
De Gea is currently Manchester United’s highest-paid player at £375,000-a-week.
However, he must cut his salary by at least 25% to satisfy his desire to renew his contract and stay in the team.
De Gea hopes to reach an agreement with the club as soon as possible, and he does not want to delay the matter until the summer.
Manchester United are also confident of reaching an agreement with De Gea.
