March 10th, in Rome’s 2-0 Europa League match against Real Sociedad
, Roma captain Manuel Pellegrini suffered a forehead injury and was replaced.
In the 56th minute of the game, Pellegrini collided with the head of Real Sociedad player Suveldia during the top fight. Pellegrini’s head was injured and bleeding. He received simple treatment from the team doctor after falling to the ground
, was then replaced and returned directly to the locker room.
Suveldia stepped forward to condolences and apologized, while Pellegrini generously stated that he was fine.
“Corriere dello Sport” stated that after the game, Pellegrini came to Rome Stuart Hospital for a brain CT examination. Fortunately, he did not have a concussion, but only needed a few stitches.
Roma host Sassuolo in Serie A this weekend and Pellegrini’s availability for that game is in doubt.
