Rodgers talks about Maddison’s injury, the player will miss Leicester City’s game against Liverpool
Rodgers has confirmed that Maddison and Dennis Pratt will miss Leicester’s Premier League game against Liverpool at Anfield.
Maddison will be in London to see a knee problem, while Pratt, who is still battling an injury, was substituted against Newcastle. Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has also focused on the January transfer window and talked about the players he hopes to bring in.
Rodgers said: “In most of my teams I’ve always had two wingers who are fast, dynamic and a threat to the backline. I like the pace of the wingers, the left-back and obviously we need someone to play. We obviously only have Luke [Thomas] going to the other side. I also think we need to adjust positionally, we need to have more players on the team, and that’s something we need to think about, cover position.”
“Centre-back, of course you need size and quality to play in that position, so I think the size of the team we can improve, but the strength and speed up front is very important for any of my teams. ”
Rodgers believes that Leicester City’s game with Liverpool provides a great opportunity for his team to bounce back from the loss to Newcastle.
He told his pre-match news conference: “I think the first 20 minutes of a game at Anfield are always very important and with Liverpool it’s important to have the intensity, the toughness and the mentality. If you’re really behind, You need that ability to have that belief. I think in any football game there are two things, the game itself and the belief before the game.”
“When you step on the pitch you always believe, especially against some of the great away teams, you need to have that belief and the mentality that you can achieve a result. For us, we have a good chance to go to a Great stadium to play football and see if we can replicate the belief and spirit we had last time out. It’s always a tough game and no one at Anfield knows that better than me, but it was for us A big challenge. Disappointing (against Newcastle), like I said, but challenges to overcome and we have a great chance to come out on top in a good game.”
