January 19, according to Luke Augustus, editor of the Daily Mail
According to the latest reports (without any confirmation from the team), West Ham United’s bold attempt to loan Harry Maguire from Manchester United was rejected by the Red Devils, who insisted that he will not leave Old Trafford.
United manager Ten Hag prefers Rafael Varane and Lisandro Martinez to the 29-year-old – even natural left-back Luke Shaw has been at his side recently.
His subordinates act as temporary central defenders.
West Ham United is currently ranked 18th with 15 points. Due to the difference in goal difference, they are not ranked at the bottom of the Premier League.
They did ask Maguire if he could be loaned out, but he was quickly turned down.
The Hammers are hoping to secure a deal similar to the successful loan deal for Jesse Lingard from Manchester United two years ago.
Ambitious United, however, turned down Maguire as ten Hag wanted to keep him for the rest of the season, with the Dutchman believing he still has a key role to play going forward.
