January 11, a few days ago, British media reported that Newcastle offered Dortmund striker Mukoko a salary of 8.84 million euros.
A verbal offer was made, but the German media “Bild” stated that the offer was too low for him.
According to the “London Evening Standard” report, Newcastle provided Mukoko with a verbal offer. If he joins, he will receive an annual salary of 8.84 million euros.
And “Bild” pointed out that it is doubtful whether the young striker will be swayed by this offer.
The report pointed out that Mukoko hopes to get an annual salary significantly higher than “only” 8.84 million euros, which also means: Newcastle’s offer is too low for him.
It remains to be seen whether Dortmund will satisfy his salary wishes.
“Bild” stated that before Christmas, Dortmund increased the renewal offer for Mukoko: an annual salary of 6 million euros, plus a bonus of 10 million euros for signing a new contract.
But Mukoko did not accept it. Now that the two sides are at an impasse, it is difficult to imagine an agreement being reached.
In addition to Newcastle, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in Mukoko.
Newcastle’s advantage is that they have the support of Saudi funds and are currently ranked third in the Premier League standings ahead of Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool, so they are expected to participate in the Champions League next season.
This is a good argument for them when negotiating with potential new signings.
At present, in the Bundesliga standings, Dortmund has not entered the Champions League. If they want to get a place in the Champions League next season, they must go to the next level in the second half of the season.
