Recently, the Italian media Corriere della Sera disclosed more call recordings of high-level Juventus in its latest article.
A recording of a call from former CEO Arrivabene: “I called Cherubini and told him not to spend more than the Juventus budget in the transfer market. I think he trusts me because he thinks I am honest.
Look at the latest financial statements, the pressure is on the numbers, not the economics.”
In another recording of the call, Cherubini couldn’t help but explode when speaking with Juventus financial manager Bertola: “The worst player in Juventus earns as much as the best player in Atlanta, and Zapata’s annual salary is only 1.8 million…
…And if we buy a dog, we’ll pay him 3.5 million a year!”
Cherubini continued: “One day Gaccherini said to me: Do you remember when I was at Juventus? That team, even in training, would fight like the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
. That’s because there were 24 big names in the squad at the time, and even some players who weren’t on the list earned 10 million euros before tax.”
Cherubini then took aim at Paratici:
“We were arrogant in the transfer market because Fabio chose to spend 90 million euros to sign Higuain five years ago, instead of 10 million to sign Gabriel Jesus, we could have developed Jesus into 90 million euros.
Ten-thousand-level players!”
