January 15th, in the 20th round of the Premier League, Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1 at home, after the victory
The Red Devils are six points away from top team Arsenal with a game in hand.
Recently, Manchester United star Scholes said in an interview that Manchester United can fight for the league title this season. Rio Ferdinand said that there is still a gap between Manchester United and Manchester City, but the Red Devils are now on the right way.
“We’ve seen that when Manchester United press forward they can beat big teams, they need to defend high. You asked me earlier if United were in the title race and if they stay fit we have to say yes. Now
Manchester United are one point behind Manchester City, who are still the best team in the Premier League in my opinion and it’s not too late to win,” Scholes said.
“But in March and April it’s always hard to win games, Arsenal are in great form, they look fantastic but injuries can affect them and they have a manager who doesn’t have the experience to win trophies.
There are still 20 rounds in the league, there is still a long way to go, and the championship situation may change before February.”
Regarding Manchester United, Ferdinand said: “The gap between them and Manchester City is slowly narrowing. I think Manchester United still has a long way to go. The gap between these two teams is still very large. Don’t be fooled by such a game.
The result is that you look at things out of touch with reality. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but they are on the right track and we can feel from this Manchester United team what has been missing for a long time, and that is belief.”
“The players on the pitch and the fans are connected again because there’s a committed squad that’s willing to fight, they won’t back down from pressure, they won’t back down when there’s a setback in the game, that’s only good for the future of the team
.Now the Manchester United manager deserves huge praise for building a team that is ready to fight.”
