Before the game, in an interview with the club’s official website, the team’s midfielder Foden also talked about his views on the game.
Thoughts on the Manchester Derby

With the new coach, they look a lot stronger than when we faced them earlier in the season.”
“We know what we’re up against, it’s a strong Manchester United team and they look in good form. We don’t read too much into the opponent, we’re just about ourselves and if we play well on the day
, we can beat any team in the world. I think that’s the mentality we have to have. We need to believe we are champions and just play our football.”
“In my opinion, the Manchester derby has changed a lot now. When I was a kid, every time the Manchester derby, Manchester United were the favorites to win. Now it’s completely different. It’s happened.
There have been major changes, but any team can win on any given day.”
“We know very well that we need to be at our best on matchdays every week to get results. Although I think the style of football has changed a lot, this is still a Manchester derby.”
A hat-trick in the first round of this season
Foden: “It was a very happy moment for me and Haaland. We both scored hat-tricks and helped the team win. It means a lot to us to see the happy fans after the game.
