January 9th, in a game in the third round of the FA Cup, Aston Villa was defeated by the second team
Team Stevenage was upset and eliminated.
Villa took the lead in the first half, but was reversed by the opponent with two consecutive goals in the final moments of the game.
After the game, Villa coach Unai Emery also talked about the loss.
Emery said: "The mistake happened in the 90th minute because we had chances and didn’t score. We went into the box a lot and created a lot of chances, but we weren’t sharp enough to score the second goal to end the game."
"In the end, they really played out the possible situation that they had in their minds and forced us to make mistakes. They threatened with long balls, crosses and second attacks, and they wanted a draw. We were in the end
Not controlling the game for a few minutes, maybe thinking about playing them in a play-off is okay. We can make one mistake, but not two."
"We are sorry to the fans, I am as disappointed as they are. Now my thoughts are to try to bounce back as quickly as possible and think about the next home game against Leeds United."
"We can talk about today’s game, the FA Cup is very important to us considering we have not performed well in the FA Cup for a long time in the past."
"I started coaching the team two months ago and I think it’s a process. It may not be perfect and it’s disappointing, but we’ll keep working hard and trying to improve ourselves."
