January 12th, the Moroccan Football Association announced that it would not be able to go to Algeria to participate in the African National Championship.
The African Nations Championship will be held in Algeria from January 13 to February 14. There will be 18 African teams participating in 5 groups.
The Moroccan Football Federation said it was unable to participate in this competition. Morocco was divided into the same group as Sudan, Madagascar and Ghana.
Algeria has closed flights from Morocco for more than a year due to tensions between the two countries.
The African Nations Championship was launched in 2009 and alternates with the Africa Cup of Nations every two years.
The event, which was originally scheduled to take place in Algeria last summer, has been postponed to the beginning of this year.
