According to the presidential decree issued by the President, all assets of Ukrainian legend Timoshchuk in Ukraine will be frozen.
A total of 119 Russian and Ukrainian cultural figures were sanctioned, of which only two were listed as Ukrainian citizens: Tymoshchuk and TV presenter Zhanna Badoeva (who renounced her Ukrainian citizenship in 2019 but is listed in the document
citizens of Ukraine).
Anatoly Tymoshchuk played for the Ukrainian national team from 2000 to 2016: he holds the record for most appearances for the Ukrainian national team.
In 2017, he announced his retirement.
In December 2022, Tymoshchuk spoke about events in Ukraine for the first time, saying that "not everything is so simple."
Zelensky’s decree also informed the sanctioned persons that their assets in Ukraine would be frozen, and that business operations with them would be terminated, all licenses or permits would be cancelled, and securities trading and copyright transfers would be prohibited.
The presidential decree was issued on January 7, Ukrainian time.
